Denver Elementary students are thankful

Walking into a Denver Elementary kindergarten classroom the week of Thanksgiving you see the word thankful numerous times. But then you need to look closer to the little people in the classroom and you will see 17 tiny thankful hearts.

"I am thankful for my toys," said one kindergartner.

"I am thankful for my grandma and grandpa's dogs," said a student.

This may be a typical response from a five or six year old, but these kids really are thankful for much, much more.

"I want them to see besides our toys, besides the things we have, because we have a lot of wonderful things, that there are a lot of the things to be thankful for. Like their family they have and time they get to spend together," said Megan Cheeseman, Denver kindergarten teacher.

"I am thankful for my family," said one student. "I am thankful for my mom and dad," said another student.

Even at the young age of five or six these 17 tiny thankful hearts get what this holiday is all about.
