IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City police say they found a stolen handgun and computer after two men locked themselves in a laundry room Saturday morning.

Police were called to 1427 Aber Avenue at around 8:45 a.m. Saturday after people reported that two intoxicated men locked themselves in the laundry room.

Once officers made it into the laundry room, they found Jeron Denzel Ashford, 19, laying on the floor and John Mulbah, 20, passed out on a shelf.

Officers say that a .45 caliber handgun fell out of Ashford's pants when he stood up.  They say the serial number matched a gun that was reported stolen later in the day.  Sergeant Denise Brotherton says the owner of the gun was gone and didn't discover the missing gun until around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers say that a laptop, which was reported stolen in the same burglary, was found under Mulbah's legs on the shelf.

Ashford and Mulbah are both charged with second degree theft and public intoxication.  Ashford is also charged with carrying weapons.  Mulbah was charged with a controlled substance violation after officers says they found him with crack cocaine and he admitted to being a drug dealer.

Brotherton says more charges are possible as the investigation moves forward.
