A Georgia man will spend 14 years in federal prison after transporting an Iowa teenager to Georgia for sexual relations.

Gary Archer, 28, is being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

Archer received his sentence Wednesday by a United States District Court. In April 2011, he pleaded guilty to one count of interstate travel to sexually abuse a child and one count of transporting a child in interstate commerce for unlawful sex.

According to a United States Attorney's Office press release, Archer admitted that in May 2010, he drove from Georgia to Iowa to have sexual intercourse with the girl. Then in July, he purchased her an airline ticket so that she could travel to Georgia for more sexual relations.

In addition to Archer's prison sentence, he will also be required to file as a sex offender.
