Regina holds off Beckman rally, advances to 2A final

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Iowa City Regina's Joe McCaffery carried the load as the defending champion Regals held off a furious Dyersville Beckman rally winning 35-28 to advance to the 2A title game.

McCaffery finished the game with 88 yards, but it was his 4 rushing touchdowns that helped boost Regina to a 35-7 lead late in the 4th quarter.

Beckman, however, nearly pulled off the impossible as Connor Golden threw 3 touchdowns, 2 of them to Ty Troutman and the other to Derek Hammann, all within the course of just over 3 minutes.  The Blazers pulled within 7 with just under 2 minutes remaining.

Beckman, however, recovered the final onside kick attempt, and ran out the clock for the victory.  They advance to a battle of undefeateds as they face 13-0 Spirit Lake in the 2A final.
