MARQUETTE (KWWL) -

Two Dubuque men were arrested and face drug charges after a traffic stop in Marquette on Thursday.

A Mar-Mac officer stopped the vehicle at 10:49 p.m. Thursday on First Street in Marquette for a stop sign violation.

During a check of Cory Lee Cole's driver's license, the officer found that the 45-year-old was not allowed to drive in Iowa.  The passenger in the car, 45-year-old Mark Noonan, was not allowed to drive in Iowa either.

While talking with Cole and Noonan, the officer noticed a strong chemical smell coming from the vehicle and the men.

Police obtained a search warrant and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of items used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Cole is charged with failure to obey a stop sign, driving while revoked, and driving while suspended. Noonan is charged with possession of marijuana.

Additional charges are expected once the items seized are tested.
