CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Cedar Falls police used DNA evidence to make an arrest in an April vandalism case which left a vehicle totaled.

Police took a report of a car vandalism on April 3 in the 1900 block of Merner Avenue.  Officers say they found scratches in a car that spelled out derogatory words.  The damage was estimated at $4,000 and the car was considered totaled by the insurance company.

Officers found a bloody knife at the scene and used DNA to identify Jessica Leigh Gibbs, 22, as their suspect.

Gibbs was arrested on November 5 and charged with second degree criminal mischief which is punishable by no more than five years in prison and a fine of no more than $7500.00.
