Clarksville falls to Murray in 8 player semifinals

Clarksville football has enjoyed perhaps the best season in school history, winning a school record 12 games and making the state football semifinal round for the first time ever.

Clarksville took on Murray at the UNI-Dome Thursday for a spot in the eight player state championship game.

The Indians took advantage of some early turnovers.  Dalton Ciavarelli forces a Mustang fumble and Clarksville recovers.  A couple of plays later, Caleb Ciaverelli pounds it in for a 7-0 Clarksville lead.

On Murray's next possession, Austin Halls fumbles and Clarksville's Wes Dicks scoops up the ball and scampers 35 yards for a touchdown, giving the Indians a 14-0 lead just 86 seconds into the contest.

But Murray comes storming back.  Austin Halls floats a 20 yard touchdown pass to Cody Scroggie, helping the Mustangs rally to take a 20-14 halftime lead.

Clarksville and Dalton Civarelli would make a comeback of their own in the third quarter.  Civarelli gets a big run, setting up a short touchdown by Dalton Civarelli.  The Indians take a 21-20 lead.

Murray then scores 16 unanswered points capped off by Andrew Rider's score giving the Mustangs a 36-21 lead.

But once again, Clarksville fights back as Dalton Civarelli races 55 yards for a touchdown pulling Clarksville to within one point, 36-35.

But that's as close as the Indians can get, as Halls connects with Scroggins for another touchdown.

Murray advances with a 58-35 win over Clarksville.  They will face Fremont-Mills on November 18.
