Food sculpture raises money for food bank

Some local schools created some food art now on display at Crossroads Center in Waterloo.

Four schools created the sculptures using cans of food.

It's part of a contest sponsored by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Proceeds go to the food bank while the schools and the food bank will split the food.

Waterloo West High won a contest with its sculpture dedicated to veterans.

"There's a lot of creativity here and uniqueness and they've taken a lot of time out of their schedules, and I'm really happy to see that," said Crossroads marketing manager Mary Kroeger.

If you want to check it out, the display will stay up through Thursday.
