WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Two Illinois men were arrested after Iowa authorities say they lead them on a chase through several counties.

Charles City police were called to the 1400 block of South Grand Avenue around 10 p.m. Wednesday for an assault.  Three people were found injured and were taken to an area hospital.

Witnesses told police two men assaulted the people who were injured, took their money and drove away.

Authorities tracked down the men on Highway 218 headed south. The men then lead authorities on a chase going at speeds of more than 120 miles per hour.

Authorities were able to stop the men just south of Waverly with stop sticks, but not before the two crashed into a Bremer County Sheriff's squad car.

Twenty-year-old Leroy Hampton and 19-year-old Mario Howard were both arrested. They face several charges including robbery, assault and drug possession.
