Waterloo man accused of stabbing girlfriend

Police have arrested a Waterloo man after he was accused of stabbing his girlfriend.

Police were called to West Third and Cedar Street, near the Waterloo Public Library around 10:21 a.m. Tuesday. Police say 22-year-old Tara Meyer of Waterloo had been stabbed twice in her stomach.

Meyer told officers that she had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, 32-year-old Trevor Boenig.  She says Boenig took out a knife, stabbed her, and then ran away.

On Thursday, police arrested Boenig and charged him with Assault/Domestic Abuse, Willful Injury, and Going Armed with Intent. He is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on $75,000.00 bond.
