CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Titans announced on Tuesday that they have signed former Hawkeyes Paul Chaney and Lee Gray along with former Upper Iowa University Peacock Vernard Wilkins.

Chaney played wide receiver for Iowa from 2007 to 2010, starting in 15 games.  The St. Louis, Missouri native also returned kicks for the Hawkeyes.  He finished his career racking up 92 yards on three kickoff returns in the 2010 Insight.com Bowl against Missouri.  Chaney, 5'9" and 170 pounds, also ran track for Iowa, anchoring an 800-meter relay team that won first place at the 2009 Drake Relays.

"Paul has some great speed," Titans General Manager Chris Kokalis said in a written statement. " We look forward to him helping us in both the offensive and special team's departments."

Gray, 6'5", 325 pounds, played left tackle for the Hawkeyes from 2001-2005 and helped Kirk Ferentz win his second Big Ten championship in 2004.  The Dallas, Texas native spent some time on the Miami Dolphins practice squad before being released.

The Titans also signed 6'3", 230 pound Vernard Wilkins, a former defensive end and linebacker from Upper Iowa University.

They also signed wide receiver Christopher Head, safety Marciele Surrell, defensive end Korey Hollinshed and running back/wide receiver Tyler Batts.

The Titans will announce plans for a St Louis, Missouri tryout early next week.
