Falcons protect Sacred Acre, down Dike-New Hartford

The Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons protected their home turf on Monday and avenged last year's second round loss, downing Dike-New Hartford 23-8.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Wolverines get into field goal range, but Byron Fritch comes up short.

But then the Falcons finally get things going on the ground and Brady Frey caps off a drive with a one-yard touchdown run.  Falcons lead 7-0.

At the end of the first half, Brandon Simkins takes the hand-off from quarterback Spencer Cooper and rumbles 12 yards to give A-P the 14-0 lead at the half.

Dike-New Hartford scores late, but the Falcons score more, winning 23 to 8.

A-P travels to Saint Ansgar on Friday night for the quarterfinal round.
