Some Republican presidential candidates say they want to tell Iowans how they would bring back the nation's crumbling manufacturing core and rebuild the struggling economy.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Former Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Representative Ron Paul of Texas plan to participate in a forum in Iowa on Tuesday.
People in early voting states are divided as to whether they think it is a good idea to raise the debt ceiling. The Associated Press said voters don't want more debt, but some said if a plan to get out of that debt involves raising the debt ceiling, that would be OK with them.
Des Moines Register Poll front runners Herman Cain and Mitt Romney were not planning to attend the forum.
Cain is spending Tuesday in Washington. Romney's aides said he has a scheduling conflict.
