Johnson County inmate dies after tampering with medical instrument

Posted:

A Johnson County inmate has died after tampering with a surgical instrument.

The sheriff's office says 24-year-old inmate Christian Randle Beliel tampered with a catheter that's designed to withdraw or inject fluid into the body.

This caused him to lose blood and become unconscious Tuesday night.

He was taken to the hospital and died Wednesday.

An autopsy was performed Thursday, but results aren't available yet.
