The 1A playoff game between Dike-New Hartford and Gladbrook-Reinbeck is a rematch of a 2010 first round postseason game won by the Wolverines 33-14.
The Rebels' Chase Clark, imposing his will on the Dike-New Hartford defense, plows his way in for the game's first score. It was 6-0 Gladbrook-Reinbeck in the first.
But the Wolverines come back with a seven minute drive. Josh Rekers goes to Royce Pool for a 16-yard touchdown, that gives Dike-New Hartford a 7-6 lead early in the second.
Later in the first half, first and 23 for the Rebels when quarterback Parker Bolt, down to the 14-yard line. That led to a Ryan Strohbehn 3-yard touchdown giving the Rebels a 12-7 lead.
But momentum quickly shifted back to the Wolverines. Rekers, with Colby Luethje in hot pursuit going to Pool again for his seventh touchdown of the year, and the Wolverines led 14-12 at halftime. Dike-New Hartford wins a classic, 21-20 to move on to a second round match up against Aplington-Parkersburg.
