IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

When City High met Kennedy at the end of the regular season, the Little Hawks got off to a slow start before pulling away.

This time City High wasted little time getting going.

The Little Hawks used five turnovers to help propel them to a 48-26 first round win over the Cougars.

City High got the scoring started with their bruising tailback Ronald Thompson, who capped off the opening drive with a two yard touchdown run.

On the ensuing Kennedy drive, Jasper Washington extended completely to intercept Jimmy Lizarraga.  Washington then scored on a five yard quarterback keeper three plays later to put City up 13-0.

The Little Hawks, who were ranked second earlier in the year, will play Cedar Falls, previously ranked number one, at the UNI-Dome Monday night.
