WAVERLY (KWWL) -

The Bremer County Sheriff's Office says a man involved in a head-on crash with a Waverly police officer has been charged with operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff Dewey Hildebrandt says that 27-year-old Jeffrey Monroe Brymer of Nashua, was more than the twice the legal limit when he hit a Waverly police car head-on on Sept. 29.

According to Hildebrandt, Brymer's blood alcohol level was .192 at the time of the accident.

According to Officer Dave Lindley, he was waiting to make a left hand turn at the intersection of 4th Street SW and 29th Avenue at around 2:42 a.m. when he was hit head-on by Brymer.

Both Lindley and Brymer were injured. Lindley received minor injuries and returned to work earlier this month.

Brymer was originally charged with Failure to Use Safety Belt and Improper Use of Lanes. He was booked into the Bremer County jail and released on a promise to appear citation.
