UPDATE: Fiery crash leads to drunk driving arrest


Police say a drunk driver caused a fiery crash Friday morning in Waterloo.

Crews were called to the intersections of Hess and East Shaulis Roads around 5:15 Friday morning.

Police say 19-year-old Michael Reicks of New Hampton ran a stop sign and crashed into a van. The impact of the crash caused the van to go up in flames.

The driver, Melissa Moore, was able to escape.  She was taken to an area hospital and transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with non-life threatening injuries.

Reicks faces drunken driving charges, as well as other traffic violations.
