Falcons claw past the Cougars in Ackley

It was a battle between the first place team and the last place team in 1-A district 3. On Friday night Aplington-Parkersburg could clinch at least a share of another district title against AGWSR team that is winless in district play.

The Falcons would score early and often against the Cougars. A-P's first drive would be capped off by a one yard run by Brady Frey. The Falcons would miss the extra point but go up by six.

In A-P's next series Jason Grill would get the call. Grill would take the hand off and that young man would go 36 yards and dive for the pylon. Grill would be put to work in this game as he ran for more than 100 yards in the first half.

Still in the first Frey would get the hand off and break a couple of tackles and then it was off to the races. He would take the ball 60 plus yards in his run for the end zone.

The Falcons then would show they can also do it on the other side of the ball. Shason Peterson would pick the pass off and with a couple of nice moves he would find his way into the end zone.

A little later the Falcons would go back to the run and number 13 Curry Hoff would bull his way into the house.

The Falcons would then go to the air. Quarter back Spencer Cooper would hit who else but Jason Grill and Grill would do the rest as he crosses the goal line.

With a few minutes left in the first half the Falcons were up 41 to 0.

A-P would finish off AGWSR easily as they won 55 to seven.
