Dubuque offering temporary free parking in new ramp

The City of Dubuque Parking Division says it's offering free parking to new customers at the new Central Avenue parking ramp. That offer lasts until December 1 of this year.

The ramp, at Tenth Street and Central Avenue, opened in July.

This offer applies only to people who are new customers with City of Dubuque parking facilities. This doesn't apply to people who have taken part in the parking program for the previous 30 days, the city said.

Also, the offer applies to individuals only. Groups and businesses aren't eligible.

According to the city, "The ramp contains 477 parking spaces on seven levels and was built to support and encourage continued development in downtown Dubuque. The ramp features 62 security cameras, a 'smart' lighting system which monitors each level and only activates lighting when motion sensors detect movement, a bicycle storage area, and parking spaces with electrical outlets to charge hybrid and electric vehicles. The landscaped areas around the parking ramp also function as rain gardens."

After December 1, customers will have to pay $52 per month.

Anybody interested may contact the Parking Division Office at 830 Bluff Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The City of Dubuque's Parking Department can be reached at 563-589-4267.
