Cedar Rapids Washington made itself relevant last week with its upset of then #2 City High.
The Warriors faced an unbeaten Linn-Mar team that is winning its games by an average of 43-11.
The Linn-Mar Lions showed off their foot skills and speed late in the first quarter when Quarterback Mark Atwater connects for a 65-yard completion to Andy Henry and an interference call tacks on another 15 yards.
Next play Mitch Wantock runs it in from 26 yards out. The Lions are in business up 7-0 with just over two minutes left in the first.
The Lions waste little time and in a matter of a minute. They have the ball again and this time Atwater finds number 88 Jacob Hutch for a clutch 30-yard pick up.
Next play Atwater calls his own number, he fights his way right into the endzone for a 20-yard touchdown run. The Lions go up 14-zero.
In the second quarter, the Warriors climb back in it with an impressive 12-play drive that ends up with number four Will Griffin capping it off with a one yard touchdown plunge.
Unfortunately, the Lions were just getting warmed up, forcing the Warriors to punt from their own one yard line. Andy Henry receives the kick from the 40 and he finds a seam down the right side of the field untouched into the endzone.
The Lions go into halftime up 28-7. The Linn-Mar Lions would end up mauling the Warriors for a final score of 56 to 7.
