WEST UNION (KWWL) -

The West Union Police Department says two men have been arrested for aiding another man in escaping from the West Union Correctional Facility on Tuesday.

Officer Brent Parker says Christopher Alan Burke, 21, escaped on Tuesday while serving time for his involvement in a methamphetamine lab that was found above businesses in downtown West Union in 2010.

Burke was found Thursday night during a joint search by the West Union Police Department, Postville Police Department, Allamakee Sheriffs Office and Iowa State Patrol.

Burke is now charged with a probation violation for fleeing the correctional facility and more charges are pending.

Parker says that Sebastian Trimble and Trevor Hopfensperger were arrested Friday for helping Burke escape.

Trimble was in the West Union Correctional Facility after serving time in prison on a voluntary manslaughter charge.  Hopfensperger was sentenced to the facility for burglary charges.

Both are now being held on probation and parole violations.

Parker says more charges are pending.
