White House chooses two Iowa interns

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -

Amanda Demaris and Sophia Magill were chosen to be White House fall interns.

Demaris is from Des Moines and attends Iowa State University of Science and Technology.

Magill is from Charter Oak and attends the University of Illinois - Chicago.

The mission of the program is to prepare future leaders of our nation.

Interns work in one of several White House departments, including the Office of Cabinet Affairs, the Office of the Chief of Staff and the Office of the Vice President as well as many others.

This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate young people, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office and prepare them for future public service opportunities.

The application for the Summer 2012 White House Internship Program will be posted online on Mon., November 7, 2011. The dates of the Summer 2012 White House Internship Program are May 29, 2012-August 10, 2012.
