Grundy Co. family thankful for community's support

One Grundy County family is thankful for the community's continued support.  A soup supper and silent auction in Grundy Center Sunday night was just the latest fundraiser for Lee and Janet Scott.  Two years ago, the Scotts lost their teenage son in a car accident.  Since then, both Lee and Janet have faced some serious health problems.  Most recently, Lee was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  And all those issues have resulted in mounting medical bills.  The Scott family's church has stepped in to offer support through it all.

"It says that we're really a family here, that there's a concern for people.  It's the kind of thing where people come to support together to support others.  And we believe it's expression of our community and the faith of our community as well," said Pastor Larry Hoop.

Fundraisers are also being organized to help the Scotts in their former hometown of Monmouth.  If you'd like to help the family, donations can be mailed to or dropped off at Greenbelt Bank in Grundy Center.
