The Salvation Army is looking for a few good coats

The Waterloo Salvation Army is asking for your help before the winter weather arrives.

This non-profit is asking for donations of winter clothing, such as coats, hats, gloves, and scarves.

Organizers of the winter clothing drive say they have seen an increase in the need as the economy continues to struggle.

They are asking for gently used or new items to be dropped of at the salvation army post in waterloo which is located just off highway 63 in downtown waterloo.

"It seems that some of our clients that move from place to place and they left a coat or they couldn't move it or the flood a couple of years ago wiped out a lot of the peoples extra things that they had, " says Judy Gilstrap of the Salvation Army. "We find that people need those winter coats."

If you are in need of a coat you can pick one up on October 11th, that's when coat give away begins at the Salvation Army.

You only need a picture ID and Social Security card to receive winter clothing.
