High scoring South Winn entered Friday night averaging 36 points a game in its five victories. On Friday the unranked Warriors would look for a little respect against North Fayette which is unbeaten against 2A competition this year.
It was homecoming in the land of the Hawks Friday night and the evening began with a number of youngsters who lead the crowd in the interlude dance.
At the end of the first quarter it would be the Warriors who would get on the board first. Quarter back Jared Holien hands off to Jordan Rommes who took the ball down to the one yard line. The drive would be capped off by #22 Colton Hageman.
The Warriors went for two but they were denied.
North Fayette would not let this turn into a South Winn monopoly. Running back Jake Greco would take the hand off and would find a seam. Greco would go 67 yards to the end zone. With the extra point the Hawk go up seven to six.
At the start of the second quarter the Hawks would keep rolling as Daniel Streeter handed off to Greco and he fought his way into the end zone. With the extra point the Hawks went up 14 to 6.
South Winn would answer right back. Holien handed off to Hageman from five yards out and found the end zone. The Warriors went for two and this time they would get it. Holien hit Bucheit in the numbers and just like that the game was tied up 14 all.
The Warriors would hold on the for the win as they beat the Hawks 20 to 17.
