Salvation Army looking for winter clothing donations

As the weather begins to get colder, the Salvation Army is gearing up for their annual Coat's for Kids drive.

The Waterloo Salvation Army is asking for donations of new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to give to those who would go without this winter.

The Salvation Army says that with the faltering economy and record unemployment, the need is greater than ever.

If you have items to donate, bring them to the Salvation Army office at 89 Franklin Street.  The office opens at 9:00 a.m.

The items will be given away from October 11 through October 13 between 9:00 a.m. and Noon, and 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  If you are in need of a coat, you are asked to bring a photo identification along with a Social Security card for everyone in your family requesting assistance.

For more information, contact the Waterloo Salvation Army at 319-235-9358.
