Judge grants mistrial in Iowa City murder case

A judge has granted a mistrial in an Iowa City murder trial that has been underway since September 19.

Charles Thompson, 19, was on trial for the murder of John Versypt, who was shot to death on October 8, 2009 in Iowa City.  Versypt's body was found by police in the hallway of an apartment building that he owned.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Sean McPartland declared the mistrial because a portion of a videotaped police interview with Thompson that was supposed to be removed, was played in court.
