WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -

World War II and Korean War veterans from Eastern Iowa have landed in Washington, D.C. to enjoy their day visiting memorials built in their honor.

One flight full of World War II veterans left the Waterloo Regional Airport early Tuesday morning, while another, filled with World War II and Korean War veterans, left the Dubuque Regional Airport.

All the veterans will spend the day touring sites around Washington, D.C. while sharing stories with each other.

KWWL's Colleen O'Shaughnessy is with the Waterloo Honor Flight and will bring you live reports all day.  Trish Kennedy, a KWWL account executive, is a guardian on the Dubuque Honor Flight and will be sharing pictures with us all day.

We will also be live at the Waterloo Regional Airport Tuesday at 10 p.m. as Colleen and the veterans return.
