Gas prices slowly falling nationwide

The average price for a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. has dropped 12 cents over the past two weeks.  That's according to the Lundberg Survey of fuel prices, released Sunday.  It puts the average price of a gallon of regular at $3.54.

Mid-grade costs an average of $3.70 a gallon, and premium is averaging $3.82.

Diesel prices have fallen 4 cents, to an average of $3.91 a gallon.

Of the cities surveyed, St. Louis had the nation's lowest average price for gas at $3.08.  San Francisco had the highest at $3.90.

Analysts believe fears of a double-dip recession could push demand for gasoline lower, so the price drops may be a reflection of that.
