Waverly-Shell Rock jumped from number nine to number seven in the 3A poll after their hard fought 14-0 victory at Oelwein last week. On Homecoming night the Go-Hawks were out in full force and the Waverly Special Teams did not disappoint with the opening kick off taken by Homecoming King Walker Erskine, from the 18-yard line right up the middle 30-yards to the Go-Hawk 49.
The Waukon Indians defense would have the Go-Hawks confused and on the run much of the first quarter with Mummelthei getting sacked and runs getting stuffed, but unfortunately for the Indians the Go-Hawks were just warming up. In the Second Quarter Mummelthei rolls out from their own 49-yard line looks deep, unloads and finds number 34 Jordan Miller who takes the ball all the way down to the Indians 2-yard line.
The next play Jake Englin takes it in for the touchdown. Go-Hawks go up seven to zero.
The Indians were not ready to go away easily. The very next play from the line of scrimmage Marcus Weymiller takes the ball right up the gut, rumblin, tumblin and carries the rock all the way down to the Go-Hawk 20-yard line.
A few plays later the Go-Hawks would recover a fumble and after a few passes to Miller Waverly Shell Rock gets their second score with Mummelthei walking into the end zone from a few yards out. Go-Hawks lead at half 13 to zero and win it in the end 28 to zip.
