NE Hamilton too much for Tripoli


Second ranked Northeast Hamilton is averaging 55 points a game and winning by an average of 33 points a contest, while Tripoli enter the game with a three and two record after losing to 8th ranked Riceville last week.

NE Hamilton receives the opening kick and they do as expected, march 53 yards in under 2 minutes. Marcus Mechaelsen from 12 yards to the end zone to make it 8-0 Trojans.

Later in the quarter Mechaelsen is at it again, on the direct this time from 6 yards out for the touchdowns 16-0 Trojans.

After a big 4th down stop, the Panthers seemed to gain some momentum driving and Karter Schult wouldn't be denied from 4 yards out to cut the lead in half 16-8.

That's where we stood until late in the half with 35 seconds left and the Trojans Kyle Sweedler finds Clay Harreld in the back of the end zone for 6 yards 22-8.

Ensuing drive, Panthers QB James Barz doesn't expect the snap. It goes over his head and Kyle Sweedler jumps all over it on the 12.

Four plays later on 4th and 10 from the 12 and Mechaelsen finds Herreld once again all alone in the end zone. Two touchdowns in the final 35 seconds of the half to make it 30-8 at the break.

In the third, Panthers trying to respond and they drive 60 yards and James Barz on the QB keeper 30-14.

Then late in the 3rd, Barz goes up top to Tyler Seehase for 35 yards to make it 30-22.

But the comeback bid falls short after another Panther fumble, Mechalsen busts one to the outside and to the end zone to make it 38-22, and NE Hamilton goes on to win 52-28.
