Last week Dike-New Hartford got a huge scare by blowing a 27-0 lead before escaping with a 41-40 overtime win at West Fork. On Friday night the Wolverines faced a Lake Mills team which picked up its first win of the season last week at AGWSR.
The Wolverines came out pumped up for this one and were looking to take a bite out of the Bulldogs.
During their first possession of the game Dike-New Hartford would make a statement. Quarter back Josh Rekers would hand off to Royce Pool and he would take it down the sideline and into the end zone. The extra point would also be good and the Wolverines would go up by seven.
While still in the first quarter, Rekers would hand off to Brennan Miller and he would also take it down the far sideline. He would get pushed from behind but also cross the goal line. The Wolverines would go up 14.
At the end of the first quarter Rekers pitches to Terry Mooty and he would bull his way in from a short yardage situation. With the extra point Dike-New Hartford would end the first quarter with a 21 to nothing lead.
In the second quarter Rekers would show off his throwing skill by hitting Miller on a screen pass. Miller would follow his blockers 50 plus yards to the end zone.
At the end of the first half the Wolverines went into the locker room 28 to nothing.
They would take their foot off the gas in the second half but when you finish with a 35 to nothing score, it's still a very happy homecoming.
Dike-New Hartford beats Lake Mills 35 to 0.
