Bremer County warns of driver's license scam

The Bremer County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning concerning a driver's license scam.

According to Detective Dave MacDonald, the Driver's License Station in the Bremer County Treasurer's Office was told on Tuesday that someone had received an unusual phone call regarding their driver's license.

MacDonald says the caller was asking for personal information and told the person on the other end that their driver's license would be suspended within 24 hours if they did not provide the information.

MacDonald says the caller read a fake Social Security number in an attempt to get the person to reveal their true Social Security number.

MacDonald says that everyone should use common sense before giving out personal information.  He says if the call does not make sense to you, don't give out personal information until you can confirm the origin of the call.
