DELAWARE COUNTY (KWWL) -

Emergency workers pulled a 23-year-old man to safety Monday morning after a trench collapsed in Delaware County. Rescue crews were called to the 1700 block of 330th Street just south of Ryan around 9:00 Monday morning.

The Delaware County Sheriff says Anthony Marbach of Manchester was buried in debris up to his neck. It took rescue workers more than two hours to free him. He was flown to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.

"He was in the ditch there for quite a long time at least a couple hours before they got him out, but when they got him out he appeared to be okay. He seemed to be conscious and could move his arms and stuff," says Ray Gudenkauf of Gudenkauf Excavating.

Another person was working with Marbach to install drainage tile when the trench collapsed. That man escaped injury.
