Survey shows Iowa has third best employment outlook

Iowa companies expect to hire more employees between October and December, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

Employment outlook in Iowa is the third best in the United States.

About 18 percent of companies say they're confident they'll hire more employees.

That's better than the outlook a year ago at this time.

Seven percent of employers predict they will reduce their staff in the next three months.

Those employers are in construction, transportation and utilities and government.

Another 74 percent expect to maintain their current workforce levels and one percent are not certain of their hiring plans.

Those looking for jobs in durable goods manufacturing, non-durable goods manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, information, professional and business services and other services are going to have the best luck finding a job.

Jobs in financial activities, education and health services and leisure and hospitality are expected to remain unchanged.
