Golfers turn out to support the Cedar Valley Sports Commission

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A crowded field of enthusiastic golfers turned out Wednesday to support the Cedar Valley Sports Commission at its annual golf outing fundraiser. This year's event played on the links at the Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo. The golfers braved a stiff wind and unseasonably cool temperatures to help support the efforts of the CVSC.

The mission of the Cedar Valley Sports Commission is clear: To attract, create and support sports events that will have a positive impact on the economy and quality of life in the entire Cedar Valley and to position the Cedar Valley as a premier destination for these events.

For the past six years, the non-profit Cedar Valley Sports Commission has been fulfilling that mission. Already, since 2007, The Commission has awarded more than $ 215,000 in Grants to help support sporting events in the Cedar Valley. The CVSC has helped support events like the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, The United States Hockey League All-Star game, The Battle of Waterloo Wrestling Tournament, Black Hawk Area Swim Team meets, The Peregrine Charities Triathlon, and the list goes on.

Jim Marlin is the Executive Director of the Cedar Valley Sports Commission. The Commission Board is made up entirely of area volunteers who give their time and efforts in support of these many area events.
