Cedar Falls High School briefly put on lock down after student threat

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

A potential threat forced Cedar Falls school administrators to put the high school on lock down for about 30 minutes on Wednesday morning.

According to an email sent out to the district by High School Principal Rich Powers, Cedar Falls Police received a tip about a potential online threat by one student to a select group of students. Police and administrators felt the threat was credible enough to temporarily lock down the high school.

Principal Powers says they now believe that no one was in danger at any time.

Cedar Falls Police Chief Jeff Olson says the student who made the threat was located and was never on school grounds on Wednesday morning.

Administrators are not releasing any additional details in an effort to protect personal student information.
