Local standout signs with Cedar Rapids Titans

The newest team in the Indoor Football League, the Cedar Rapids Titans, have signed the first three players in franchise history, including a local standout.

Linebacker Wes McDermott, offensive lineman Travis Miller and kicker Mike Polaski will take the field for the Titans when they take the field in 2012.  All three were members of the IFL's La Crosse Spartans.

Polaski, a former Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Wartburg College player, tied for the longest completed field goal last season with a kick of 57 yards.

McDermott, a former All-American at Morehead State, played in eight games last season for the Spartans and registered 35 tackles, one sack and a defensive touchdown.

Miller, a 6'6" 340-pound graduate of the North Dakota College of Science, spent two seasons with the Spartans.
