Linn-Mar rallies to beat Dubuque Wahlert 54-22

Eighth ranked Linn-Mar outscored Dubuque Wahlert 40-6 in the second half to roll to a 54-22 victory in a battle of unbeaten teams.

Wahlert would strike first as Eagle quarterback Riley McCarron fakes to his right but then passes to John Burgmeier who proceeds to take it 80 yards to the big house. This happening just 13 seconds into the first quarter. Wahlert up 7-0, and their energy level rises, too.

McCarron connects with Sam Koenig here on 3rd down and Wahlert thought it scored another touchdown. But the referees say otherwise. Eagles settle for a field goal and go up 10-0.

The Linn Mar Lions had some scoring power in them. Mark Atwater hands the ball off to Mitch Wantock who escapes three different Wahlert defenders.  The Lions put a TD on the board, it's 10-7 Wahlert.

Sam Koenig make his second field goal to put the Eagles up13-7.

The Linn Mar did regroup.

Mark Atwater connected with Mitch Wantock again to give the Lions their first lead of the game 14-13.

Sam Koenig made his third field goal to put the Eagles up 16-14 at halftime.
