Decorah overcomes early deficit, beats Oelwein 27-7

The Decorah Vikings withstood an early deficit and defeated Oelwein 27-7 in a District 4 matchup in 3A.

The Huskies would score early on a 4th down pass from Stephen Meyer to Sam Nehl to take a 7-0 lead.

But Decorah would score late in the 1st quarter with a 51-yard pass from Blake Moen to Jacob Humpal.

The extra point would be blocked so Oelwein would take a 7-6 lead into the 2nd quarter.

A fumble in Oelwein territory would lead to a short field for the Vikings and they would capitalize.  Josey Jewell would score from 10 yards out and the Vikings would take a 13-7 lead.

They would dominate the 3rd and 4th quarters keeping the Huskies off the scoreboard and adding 2 TDs of their own.

Final score:  Decorah 27, Oelwein 7.
