Third ranked Union opened the season with a 20-17 win over Decorah and a 57-0 victory over independence. Meanwhile Center Point-Urbana dropped its first two games 34-7 to Williamsburg and 41-7 to Beckman. On Friday night they met in La Porte City.
In the first quarter, quarterback Trev Hadachek would fake the hand off to running back to Wes Burnside and keeps it himself. He would go straight up the middle from ten yards out and cross the goal line. The extra point would be good and the Knights would go up by seven.
Union wouldn't let off the gas. Still in the first quarter Hadachek would hand off to Burnside and he would march into the end zone. Burnside is the work horse of the Union offense and the Union crowd would show him some love as they cheer him on.
Center Point-Urbana would answer the Knights in the second quarter. Running back Brandon Roseberry would take the ball up the middle and into the end zone. The Stormin Pointers would hope to turn the tide, with the extra point CPU would only be down by seven.
Later in the second quarter the Knight would go for a 45 yard field goal, but it wouldn't have the distance and fall short of the goal post.
In the end the Knight wouldn't need those three points as they go on to beat the Stormin Pointers 56 to 7.
