No power, no school at Sacred Heart

No school for students at Sacred Heart in Waterloo Thursday due to a power outage.

Around 6:35 a.m. Thursday, a man driving on West 5th Street swerved to miss another car.  That resulted in him hitting the light pole and knocking power out to the school and surrounding buildings on this street.

Mid American Energy is working to restore power and they say it may take a while.

Police say that the intersection West Fifth and Randolph will be blocked off for most of the day, so be advised.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket for failure to maintain control and he had no insurance.

The rest of the Cedar Valley Catholic School system is dismissing at 12:30 p.m. Thursday due to the heat.
