CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A 67-year old Cedar Rapids man has been charged for the June 3 robbery of the Hills Bank and Trust Company in downtown Cedar Rapids.

Police were called to the bank in the 200 block of Third Avenue SE at around 10:15 a.m. on June 3 after tellers reported a man had come in with a note demanding money.  They say he didn't show any weapons.

Robert Michael Rutan was arrested in Overland, Missouri on June 20.  He was charged on Wednesday with one count of bank robbery.

Rutan appeared in Cedar Rapids federal court on Tuesday and is being held without bond.  His next court appearance is scheduled for October 5 at 12:00 p.m.

If convicted, Rutan faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
