Pink fire trucks coming to the Cedar Valley

A pink fire truck will be rolling through the Cedar Valley on Sept. 9. It's all in an effort to show support for women battling cancer and survivors of cancer. These women will have the opportunity to sign their names on the fire trucks.

The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Guardians of the Pink Ribbon planned to send two bright pink fire trucks to the Waterloo and Cedar Falls area to share a message of hope, but one of the trucks had a major transmission failure and won't be making the trip.

Here is the updated scheduled:

7 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Cedar Falls Panera

10:00-10:45 a.m. Breast Care Center (United Medical Park on Ridgeway Ave.)

10:50-11:30 a.m. Covenant Cancer Center (on Ridgeway Ave.)

12:00-2:30 p.m. UNI Gallager-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center

The pink fire truck campaign is a chance for the community to come show their support and to help raise awareness and funds for local women's cancer groups. Members of the Beyond Pink TEAM, a Splash of Color, and other volunteers will be providing information about breast cancer awareness, various programs the Beyond Pink TEAM does to help women survivors, and to help raise funds for their activities.
