#2 City High handles Senior 28-0 in opener

Posted:

Expectations are once again high for City High School.

And while not always pretty, the Little Hawks did not disappoint in their opener.

City High got off to a fast start, en route to a 28-0 win over Dubque Senior.

The Little Hawks got things started on their second series, a 22 yard swing pass from Jasper Washington to Jeremy Johnson went down to the Ram nine yard line.  Ronald Thompson punched it in two plays later from two yards out to put City High up 7-0.

The next Little Hawk series ended with a similar result.  Amos Lavela scored on a 19 yard run to make it 14-0.

Dubuque Senior hung tough against the second-ranked Little Hawks, putting together a sustained second quarter drive, and playing good defense.

After going winless last season, it's a new era for the Rams.  Former Montana State assistant coach Dale Ploessl, who coached in Bozeman under former Drake head coach Rob Ash, has taken over the Rams' program.

City High would add two more scores in the second half to notch its first win of the year.
