W-SR too strong for Denver

It was the battle of Bremer County Friday night as Waverly-Shell Rock and Denver faced off in a non-district battle.  Waverly-Shell Rock is coming off a solid 9 and 2 season as they went on the road against a Denver team that only won 1 game in 2010.

It was a tight game for about two and a half quarters but the Go-Hawks were too much.  The Go-Hawks opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run by Walker Erskine.

The Cyclones would answer in the 2nd quarter as Austin Ritter went around the left side for the score, tying the game at 7.

The Go-Hawks went up for good when Jake Englin scored on a 3-yard run and the Go-Hawks would not look back, wearing down Denver with the running game.

Final score:  Waverly-Shell Rock 32, Denver 7.
