Local venues looking to help after the closing of Sky Event Centre

Both sides of this issue agree it is the important to get events planned at the Sky Event Centre rescheduled at other venues in the area and several venues are reaching out to some of the parties in need.

We've talked with a number of venues, from the Elks club, to the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center to even local AMVETS halls and all are more than willing to help those looking for a new place to hold an event.

We caught up with those at AMVETS Post 31 in Evansdale. They said after seeing our story last night they wanted to help, especially those scrambling to find a place to hold wedding receptions.

They are offering up their building for a low price. It has a full kitchen, three rooms, and a bar. Members of the AMVETS post say they know how difficult it is to put together a big event at the last minute and that's why they wanted to help out.

"As a parent, our oldest daughter we had to do a wedding in three months and trust me it was a nightmare. We never did find a place to have it in. we had to redo a garage and this sure beats a garage," said AMVETS Rider Linda Buttgen.

Barmuda says deposits made by anyone with a booking at Sky Event Centre or Black's 501 Steakhouse will receive full credit toward their event at any other Barmuda venue. You can also get a full refund if you prefer.
