Another group gets GARBY carts in Cedar Rapids

GARBY carts are headed to Cedar Rapids residents with a Thursday collection day. The carts hold up to 100 pounds of bagged garbage.

Crews say it will take about eight days to distribute the carts to everyone on the route. The carts will be delivered to the front curb of each customer's home. Residents whose trash is collected in alleys will need to move carts around to their usual pick up point. Customers can start using the carts as soon as they are delivered.

All trash placed in GARBY carts should be bagged. Additional trash can be set out in 35 gallon bags with an extra garbage sticker clearly visible. At least three feet must be left around GARBY carts to allow machines to pick them up.

Plastic & Metal cans be recycled at City Carton Recycling at 901 Ingleside Dr. SW. Metal cans can also be taken to the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency, 2250 A St. SW or at 1954 County Home Road, Marion.

More information on GARBY carts can be found on the Cedar Rapids Solid Waste website.
