Cedar Rapids sets dates for urban deer hunt and orientations

The Cedar Rapids urban deer hunt will run from September 17, 2011 through January 15, 2012.

In order to participate in this year's hunt, you must complete the following:

- An eight-hour Iowa Bow Hunter's Safety Course.

- An Urban Deer Management application which is available at Dick's Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain, Palo Outdoors, Affinity Archery, Central Fire Station or on the city's website.

- An annual proficiency certification test at Palo Outdoors or Affinity Archery. The proficiency certification test must be taken at the location that the hunter attends the orientation session. The proficiency test should be completed prior to the orientation session.

- Attendance at the Urban Deer Hunt Rules and Regulations Class at Palo Outdoors or Affinity Archery on one of the following dates:

▪ Thursday, August 25th – 6:00-7:30 PM – Palo Outdoors

▪ Thursday, September 1st – 6:00-7:30 PM – Affinity Archery

▪ Saturday, September 10th – 9:00-10:30 AM – Palo Outdoors

▪ Wednesday, September 14th – 6:00-7:30 PM – Affinity Archery

▪ Saturday, September 24th – 9:00-10:30 AM – Palo Outdoors

Your hunting permit will be issued at the end of the Urban Deer Hunt Rules and Regulations class if all items have been completed.
